What Is a “Ghostwriter”?
A Ghostwriter is a qualified professional writer, through advanced degree and/or teaching experience, who knows what the various genres of nonfiction constitute in terms of required elements. A ghostwriter writes for another person without getting credit for the authorship, or specifically in this case, without getting credit for authorship of a book, but who is paid for writing a publishable book.
What Does Di Finch UN Ghostwriter Ghostwrite?
Primarily nonfiction, such as autobiographies or biographies, or about the client’s mission or cause to which the client is devoted. Also, nonfiction books covering a great number of areas of the client’s expertise, such as space exploration, animal rights, universal human rights, or any subject which is considered a contribution to mankind in some way either through contributing new knowledge or improving on the current state of the world.
I also write works of fiction on occasion when the book’s purpose enters into a writer’s mission or cause.
Am I Able to Submit a Formatted Manuscript for Publication?
Yes. And, to answer the question — What is a formatted manuscript — “formatted” means that the manuscript is written in compliance with publishing house rules, and there are many. Literary agents do not accept unformatted manuscripts.
What Is Your Fee?
A flat rate of $1,800 a month for all clients. A manuscript of 250 pages or 50,000 words can be written in approximately 4-6 months, depending on the scope of your project and if you have the required notes.
What Is Formatting?
Manuscripts must be formatted to comply with publishing house rules and standards. Manuscripts are not accepted if they are not properly formatted. These rules apply to margins, spacing, font style, font size, and what elements are not to be used in a manuscript such as italics.
Formatting is not how your book will appear if and when it is accepted for publishing. All it does is allow the publishing house and their editing department to work with the manuscript in a more efficient method to prepare it for publication.
What Is the Author-Ghostwriter Contract?
Once you have made the decision to become a client, I will set up a free phone consultation, and you will be provided with an "Author-Ghostwriter Agreement."
The agreement basically describes the nature of your writing project and the name of your book, if you already have decided on one. It sets a deadline goal for the length of time the project will require. An average book manuscript is 250 pages or 50,000 words; the nature of the writing project and any need for preliminary research or added time from transcribing recordings (if you do not already have notes on your writing project) will determine the deadline goal. The formatted manuscript draft is based on the information contained in your notes, which are required in the beginning before any work can begin on drafting a manuscript. Once consideration is given to all the above, a deadline can be determined ranging from four to six months.
The Author-Ghostwriter Agreement lays out ghostwriter obligations to author and author’s obligations to ghostwriter. The agreement contains the required flat monthly fee of $1800/a month, which begins with the retainer due on the day the agreement is signed by both parties. Thereafter, the date on the agreement is the same day each month the payment of $1800 is due until completion of the edited manuscript and the submission package consisting of the query letter, proposal, and manuscript.
The agreement explains that I, as ghostwriter, do NOT claim any royalties or ownership whatsoever. The only requirement for ghostwriting a formatted publishable manuscript for you is the monthly fee of $1800/month for the duration of the contract.
The agreement includes a Non-Disclosure and Confidentiality Clause. Your identity, as well as the title of your book, will never be disclosed.
